Similar
to many things nowadays the internet has its many advantages and
disadvantages. Both advantages and
disadvantages can vary depending who you ask obviously. However, no one can deny they it comes with
many of each.
One
of the most obvious advantages seen with the internet today is without a doubt
the very easy ability to find any information regarding any subject ever. Every question we have is just a simple
internet search away. On the other hand
some many consider this a disadvantage as well, it kind of can go both
ways. Some people may think this makes
people rely on the internet for too much rather than learning the information
for them self’s. Personally I would
consider this a huge advantage of the internet, mostly due to how much more
information we can easily access so easily.
That may be one of the most talked about topics pertaining to the
internet, but it has many more advantages as well as disadvantages. (Youth Village , 2012) Another debated topic
is social media, I consider it to be an advantage because it helps you connect
to people extremely easily and keep you in touch with friends and family you’re
not near. I think if used properly it is one of the best advantages of the
internet simply because you can keep in touch with some many people so
easily. The last advantage I think the
internet gives people today is the availability of information pertaining to
education. For example, our Angel page
is always open 24/7. It allows teachers
and students to communicate even outside of school. It also makes it much simpler for as student
to stay on top of their assignments, tests, ect.
Now
just like everything, there are disadvantages to the internet. The first disadvantage is the possibility of
fraud or a criminal pretending to do someone they are not in order to commit a
crime. This happens all the time over
the internet people get there identity stolen and personal information is
shared by others. The second disadvantage is social disconnect. What I mean is when someone plays internet
games all day and night and doesn’t operate in a social manner. Kids can say anything behind a computer
screen, but once in person everything can change and that foes back to the con
of social networking. Lastly a disadvantage is what can happen when a child
uses it unsupervised. Many people overlook
this as a disadvantage, but it can really turn out badly for that child
depending on what they see.
Just
like everything the internet has pros and cons.
Focusing on the pros can make in more positive, and on the other hand
looking more at the cons can make it negative.
It all depends on how you see the internet.
