Facebook has taken up a very big
piece of people’s lives and changed how they do their day to day lives. One
specific thing that Facebook affects is peoples relationships with family,
friends, and significant others. One negative affect is that people can get
jealous very easily by seeing, posts and comment to or from their loved ones to
other people including the opposite sex. This causes unnecessary strain in
their relationships. Couples also get jealous when their partner posts pictures
of themselves because why would you need to post pictures of yourself when you
have a partner. No partner wants to get on Facebook and see you posting
pictures of yourself looking for likes from other males or females. Another
negative of Facebook is when families and or couples post their fights on
Facebook for other people to see and comment on. Fights should be left to face
to face confrontation, texting or phone call, away from public eye. One of the
biggest problem starters on Facebook when baby mommas write statuses about how
much their baby daddies are such dead beats and how they hate them. Then those
baby daddy’s moms jump on the status and start defending them and being rude to
the mother. Facebook has also created cat fishes, those are people who create
fake Facebook’s and talk to people and pretend to be someone that they aren’t.
These create a lot of problems for some people because they fall in love with
them and either end up sending them money, or getting to close and being
heartbroken for the rest of their lives when they find out that the person
isn’t real. Or they get lucky meet the person and find out that they are fake
but they just don’t look how they portrayed but are the same person they talked
like. But then again even writing about all the things that make me hate
Facebook are making me think harder and so I realized how much Facebook
actually annoys me and why I don’t use it anymore. If people took a break from
Facebook and delete it they would actually realize that face to face
conversations make things so much easier than just a bunch of he said she said
and other people’s opinions being shot at you. So take a step away and realize
that people still have mouths to speak with, so use them. Facebook has caused a
lot of problems but I’m not saying it hasn’t caused good things either. Facebook
is able to keep families connected when they move far away and so you can have
constant contact and post pictures to keep them updated on the growing
grandkids or growing relationships. Grandparents can keep in contact with their
grandkids by sending messages or writing on their wall and just simply annoying
them! Facebook has now linked with many different companies and offering
coupons to customers by encouraging them to like their page in exchange for a
buy one get one free coupon. They can also provide customers with updates of
sales and weekly ads so they get them the news first before competitors. Also
even though I said keep your relationship off of Facebook the relationship
shows people that you are with someone and they are committed to you. There was
always that question when I was in high school, “Do you wanna make it Facebook
official?” That was a big thing that when everyone used Facebook and that’s who
boys and girls showed their relationship. But Facebook has dwindled down in use
and now people of older ages are abusing the power of Facebook for pointless
drama that they don’t need. Let’s minimize on the usage of Facebook and get
back to the face to face conversations.
